About the Event
Devil’s Thumb to King Lake Loop - Hessie Trailhead
This is a perfect backpacking trip for beginners! This loop is under 16 miles in total, and we will be splitting it up into multiple days to make it easy for all hiking levels! I can help coordinate equipment rentals and will take care of all of the planning and logistics! We will also have an online planning chat before the trip to do introductions, review packing lists, and answer all questions! Here is a snapshot of our itinerary:
Friday Oct. 22nd: Meet at the trailhead parking lot to distribute food, water, and other provisions. Safety check, map check, group photo, and depart! We will hike a little over four miles to our camping spot for the night before the King's Lake switch-backs. After we set-up camp, we'll cook a filling dinner and settle in for a good nights' sleep.
Saturday Oct. 23rd: We rise early to have breakfast and coffee and pack up our camp. Today we hike the bulk of the trail, and take our time as venture past Devil's Thumb Lake. We'll make camp by the Diamond Lake Trail junction. After another campfire dinner, we'll put our feet up and relax for our last night out on trail.
Sunday Oct. 24th: Up with the sun! A quick breakfast before we pack up and finish the final 4.5 miles back to the trailhead. We'll get loaded up, take another group photo, and head back to civilization!
$75 per person, not including equipment rental costs.
